Travelling to the lodges
We may be remote, but we’re still accessible by boat, bus, train and car.
Get behind the wheel
The A82 can be accessed from Glasgow and Stirling to the south or from Fort William and Inverness from the north. Be careful as you get closer to the lodges, the more rural roads around Ardnamurchan are often single track. But you can always pull over and breathe in the local scenery if you want a break from driving.
There are three ways of arriving on to the Ardnamurchan peninsular by vehicle. At all times of day and night, without using any ferries you can approach by road from Lochailort and Glenfinnan in the north. During the day you can choose to use either the Corran Ferry from the A82 or the Calmac Ferry from Tobermory.
For the status of the roads, please see Traffic Scotland. x.com/trafficscotland
Board the ferry
If you are travelling from the mainland, the Highland Council run the Corran Ferry crossing every 30 minutes from Onich on the A82 to Ardnamurchan every day, from early morning to late evening. You don’t need to book in advance, but keep in mind that there is no night service.
For the service status of the route, timetable and availability information, please see the Highland Council website. highland.gov.uk/info/20024/corran_ferry
If you are travelling from the Isle of Mull, Caledonian MacBrayne run a regular crossing during the day from Tobermory to Kilchoan.
For the service status of the route, timetable and availability information, please see the Calmac website. calmac.co.uk/service-status
Catch the train or bus
Trains and buses run regularly to Fort William from national locations. ScotRail and CitiLink provide good connections with other parts of Scotland and the United Kingdom. You could also use the Calendonian Sleeper to arrive in Fort William overnight and wake up to stunning scenery.
Once in Fort William, you can either take the local bus, route 506, direct to the lodge or you can take the local Mallaig train to Lochailort (across the Glenfinnan Viaduct) and book an Uber or Mary’s Taxis on 01397 701122.
For the timetable of bus route 506, please see the Shiel Buses website. shielbuses.co.uk/route-506-new
Come by sea, sail or motor onto a visitor mooring
We have visitors’ moorings in the bay available to our guests to arrive and moor in front of the lodges.
